Many people see a counsellor to help with; decision-making, adjusting to significant life changes, improving communication styles, overcoming past trauma, developing a sense of self-belief or increasing assertiveness skills. I’m here to help you develop a deeper understanding of your situation, and identify how to move forward and live life to the fullest.
Throughout my career I have worked with children, young adults, parents, family groups and individuals in many different roles to help improve communication, parenting skills, managing and overcoming traumatic experiences. I provide 1:1 support and treatment of mental health, emotional, relational and behavioural issues to children, teens, parents & adults
Are you feeling overwhelmed, worried or lost, struggling to make sense of past experiences, or frustrated with repeating unhealthy patterns in your life? I believe each person has the capacity to create positive change, the potential to achieve great things & the strength to overcome any obstacle. With a little help, at the right time, anything is possible.

Leanne Welling

My name is Leanne Welling. Throughout my career I have worked with children, young adults, parents, family groups and individuals in many different roles to help improve communication, parenting skills, managing and overcoming traumatic experiences. I provide support and treatment of mental health, emotional, relational and behavioural issues. I am based in Western Melbourne suburbs, primarily in Caroline Springs, and practice from a friendly comfortable community environment.

My Career began working with children living in care, where I was as a residential child care worker for 6 years. I was trained by Dr Margaret Blaustein from the Boston Trauma Centre, in The Attachment, Self-Regulation and Competency model (ARC), which is a guiding framework for thoughtful clinical intervention with youth who have experienced complex trauma. Drawing from the fields of trauma, attachment, child development, and resilience, the framework recognises the importance of working with the child-in-context, of acknowledging the role of historical experiences and adaptive responses in current presentation, and of intervening with the surrounding environment – whether primary caregivers or treatment system – to support and facilitate the child’s healthy growth and development.

Next I decided to become a Qualified Social Worker and obtained a 1st Class with Honours form the University of Hertfordshire. While studying I spent a year working as a Drug and Alcohol Counsellor and a year as a Forensic Mental Health Social Worker. From there I became a Child Protection Social Worker for Essex County Council. I relocated from the UK to live in Melbourne in 2015 and worked for the Victorian Government as a Child Protection Practitioner. In 2017 I became a Family Violence Counsellor/Case Manager in West Melbourne and it was here where I gained a new appreciation for the importance of the counselling relationship and its potential for change. Following this, I facilitated Family Violence groups for fathers in West Melbourne, focusing on the impacts of parenting styles and Family Violence behaviours on the family system, and learning ways to repair and rebuild these relationships. Currently I work as a Clinician for the Judiciary system, providing clinical supports and rehabilitiation for prisoners.

I work with children, teens, and adults on an individual basis. Please contact me for more information
