I feel deeply privileged when someone shares their concerns and describes their distress. I respond by being an attentive, respectful listener and with empathy for your painful experiences. Therapy does not start until you feel heard and understood. I will check regularly with you to make sure I am addressing your concerns and that you are happy with your progress. I will discuss the therapeutic options with you and, together, we will make a plan for dealing with your concerns. The therapies I offer are gentle; you are not pushed to confront painful memories and experiences head-on. My goal is to ensure you leave every session feeling better than when you arrived.

Effective therapy for chronic pain conditions
Chronic pain is one of the main reasons people visit their GP. In many cases, your health care providers will find the physical cause of your pain and offer effective treatments. However, it is quite common for your doctors to say they cannot find the cause of your chronic pain. The conditions for which physical causes cannot be found include:

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS),
Fibromyalgia,
Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CPPS),
Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome,
Some cases of Chronic Low Back Pain,
Some cases of musculoskeletal pain.

Most people who suffer one of these conditions report having been exposed to traumatic experiences or prolonged stress. The therapies I offer are frequently successful in markedly reducing or completely eliminating the symptoms of these chronic pain conditions because they treat the underlying trauma and stress.

The therapies I provide include Somatic Experiencing, Brainspotting, Resource Therapy, Emotional Freedom Techniques and Alchemy of Shame Transformation.. If you have not consulted with a GP or medical specialist about your pain, please do so before coming to see me. All possible physical causes of your pain must be ruled out before starting psychotherapy.
