I am a Family Therapist, Child and adolescent counsellor, specialising in Behaviour Diffifulties.
ADHD, oppositional defiant disorders, anger managment and assisting parents who have a child that their well established managment that worked on all their other children does not work with this one.
Worked at Redbank House for ten years and in maternal and child health.
I also work with clients who have addiction issues, I currently work 2 days an week in the addiction unit at St John of God with Prof. Saunders and other colleagues as well of course.
My Relationship counselling includes all relationshsips, so married, de facto, gay and lesbian, mothers and daughters, sibblings, fathers and offsprings and womens issues.
Personal coaching for work or relationships, including friendships.

My training has been varied, but my prefered treatment approach is solution focused therapy.
I started using this at Redbank House and found that clients knew only too well what their problems were, what they wanted was some solutions, most people respond well to this as they are looking for an alternative to what they are already doing. Doing something different can have quite a dramatic effect.
Clients may need to talk at some length about an issue, and sometimes that is really helpful, sometimes they have not disclosed difficult issues to anyone previously, so to talk uninterupted can be very theraputic.
At some point they will want to do something different.

The reason I like working therapeutically is that I see people make huge differences in their lives.
People have an amazing ability to change if they want to. I have seen a 76 year old man stop drinking after a history of drinking for 60 years. I see people change their behaviours in relationships so they have a more profound relationship. It is a very privileged position. I have a huge belief in peoples ability to change because I see it every day.
