Marriage and relationship counselling is my speciality.
Whether you want help to stay in a relationship or help separating, seeking the help of a professional counsellor can make this process more amicable and less stressful. Sometimes just having a soothing presence of a third person that has a neutral position can make all the difference in being able to think more clearly without the heated arguments getting in the way.

We can’t choose our families.

At different times in our lives, we all struggle with the sometimes complex triangles that are cultivated in our families. Counselling can help you to discover why you keep doing that thing that you don’t want to do. By looking at different patterns and behaviours we have adopted from our family of origin we can come to see how these are now not helpful in our present relationships and how we can be the best person we can be.

Life transitions can be stressful.

Whether it is a new baby, children entering their teens, children leaving home or learning to accept old age. These transitions can impact a relationship and create unwanted stress and anxiety. There are ways and techniques to better deal with these new challenges. Even the transition to a blended family can have its hassles. I am experienced in counselling families to make this passage less emotive and reactional.

Alicia Falzon holds a Bachelor of Psychology, a Master of Counselling, a Master of Mental Health (FT), an Advanced Certificate in Bowen Family Systems Theory and Practice and a certificate in Supervision from the Supervision Hub. She is a member of Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA), Queensland Counselling Association (QCA) and Australian Association of Family Therapy (AAFT).

My therapy is based but not entirely on a Bowen Family Systems theory. This theory was developed by Dr Murray Bowen while observing whole families that were hospitalised. He went on to develop 8 concepts that make up the theory with differentiation of self at the core of the theory.
