Westside Specialist Centre Suite 4b, "Lantos Place" 80 Stamford Road Indooroopilly Brisbane Qld 4068
I offer individual and relationship psychotherapy and counseling for adults and couples. I see people for short or long term therapy, depending on their needs. I also have a particular interest in treating anxiety disorders (e.g. obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress, phobias and worry). I have treated adults with a broad range of backgrounds dealing with a wide variety of personal and relationship concerns.
I see clients at the Westside Specialist Centre in Indooroopilly, Brisbane.
My goal is for you to feel safe, respected and accepted as we explore your concerns in a gentle, non-judgemental way. The direction of therapy is determined by your goals. I do not believe that one therapy approach fits all so I draw creatively from a range of therapy modalities.I aim to integrate the best of the major therapy schools (cognitive behaviour therapy, psychodynamic and experiential) as well as mindfulness meditation and solution focused strategies, offering an approach that is tailored to your needs. Apart from general counselling to help people explore their own issues in an accepting and safe environment, I am trained in a variety of more specific therapies which include:
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing)
Schema Therapy
Anxiety and/or Panic , Grief and Loss - General , Marriage and/or Relationship Issues , Obsessive Compulsive Disorder , Trauma Counselling
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy , Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) , EMDR , Marriage and Couples Counselling , Mindfulness approaches
As a fully qualified and registered Clinical Psychologist, I adhere to the ethical and professional standards required by the Australian Psychological Society. To ensure that I can use the very latest techniques in helping you, I devote a substantial amount of time to professional development through seminars, workshops, conferences, reading and peer review groups. As of November, 2006, the government has introduced a Medicare rebate for specific psychological strategies, and only for certain diagnoses (e.g. Depression; anxiety disorders and a range of other conditions). Eligibility for this rebate is decided by your referring doctor and requires either a referral with a GP Mental Health Care Plan (GPMHCP) from your GP requesting focused psychological strategies, or a referral from a Psychiatrist. This referral provides for a rebate for an initial 6 sessions with the option of a further 4 sessions after review by your doctor. Usually up to 10 sessions per calendar year are allowed for. My qualifications and experience enable me to offer the highest level of rebate (Clinical Psychology Provider) available from Medicare for psychology related services. The rebate is $124.50 for consultations over 50 minutes and $84.80 for 30-50 minute consultations. Thus, if you are referred with a GPMHCP or by your Psychiatrist, your out of pocket expenses for one hour consultations will be $45.50.
